Eevee is not like other Pokémon. The adorable little fox-like creature is the only one of the original 151 Pokémon
to feature branched evolution: other Pokémon evolve down a set path, but Eevee can evolve randomly into one of three different varietals: the electric Jolteon, the fiery
Flareon, or the water-based Vaporeon. Random, that is, unless you use a certain method. There is a way to choose your Eevee evolution in Pokémon GO, and it’s one of the more
fun cheats/Easter eggs yet discovered.
You can choose the evolution by nicknaming the unevolved Eevee: Sparky for Jolteon, Pyro for Flareon and Rainer for Vaporeon. Vaporeon may be the strongest of
the three right now, but it’s got the lamest name. At this point I’ve tried all three, and I can confirm that they work. You can always change the name later if
using one of those three seems a little gauche.
